Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process... :)
With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).

A real lose. The closure has been in the works for many years. I will not be able to get my Crispy Creams in a 15 minute walk anymore. :(

When we lived in Lexington, OR we would fly up to vista and borrow the old Red Ford Pickup courtesy car to make a Costco Run. No sales tax for Oregon residents :D A few times parked my Cherokee at the north end of the old closed north/south runway and get my photos developed in one hour at the wall mart off the end of the runway. There isn't even a trace of that runway in the current airnav.com photo.

Sad to see it is gone now. :(

A sad reflection of our times. The pilot population is decreasing while overall population increases. That puts airport land at a disadvantage unless the local economy sees it as a real benefit. Large, flat expanses of land are at a premium for developers. That is one reason I support the RAF, even if their focus isn't on municipal airports. Frequently, the thing that saves an airport is a significant business aviation presence with jets and high end turboprop twins. When they move into an airport, hangar costs go way up and the entry end of general aviation is pushed out. Maintaining a healthy balance is a tough juggling act these days. Enjoy your local airport while you've got it!

Remember way back in the day, when a DC-3 landed at vista, thinking it was Pasco?
