Online CFIs?

Hey guys,

Got a question for the hive.

I’m wanting to do some cruising this summer with my boat, this would be easier with some income, doesn’t need to be baller status, but something would be good.

As a higher time ATP CFI etc and with some tech skills, is there any place that one can offer ground online?

Thanks

You can offer it.....question is, will anyone be willing to pay for it? Frankly, I seriously doubt it. But, I've been wrong before. I think it was 1966.....or was it 67? 8)

Sorry, not much help there.

Re: Online CFIs?

Online ground instruction seems to mostly be the environment for people that make video content for subscription such as MZeroA and the like. With the current restrictions on physical interaction, it might be more common to find a school that is doing regular one on one ground instruction via video chat, but I am not familiar with any operation that is going that route.

Re: Online CFIs?

My partner is one week away from finishing private pilot ground school that is 100% via online video. I don't recall the instructor's name but it is an excellent course. They have access to the videos of the class if they miss one to make it up, and are able to ask questions and interact real time. Twice a week, 2 hours on Mon and Tue evenings. They all use the same book set (Jeppesen I think?) so everyone is on the same page.

The instructor does this class a couple times per year, works great with Covid restrictions.

A high-time pilot friend of mine and his daughter (who is a SEL/MEL pilot in her own right)
have a series of youtube videos: "Aviation Ground School".
Some flying stuff, but also some light aircraft maintenance stuff.
Done for enjpyment, but if you get enough hits you can make money.
I think they've bagged about $4 so far.
