The faster I go , the farther behind I get.

That's the quickest way to stop when you've approached that steeply. :)

Re: OOppps

I got hired once to go to Texas and instruct a Hollywood film studio guy in a Trinidad. Our task was to bring his new glass cockpit retract back to Santa Monica. He wanted a TBM 700 but thank God the insurance company said no on that one.
Anyway, one whole leg of the flight.... he complained how slow the plane was. I just let him fly with the gear hanging out... wondering when he would notice.
I have spent a fair bit of time observing other pilots up close and it worries me. I don't really know a way to weed out those who should stay on the ground, Eventually Murphy might step in and help. Until then, some of the most bizarre stuff happens in planes, as everyone here has seen for sure. Can you imagine being in front of these two guys on the runway for takeoff. They probably would run right up your ass.... and then just scratch their heads. "Where did he come from" Mon Dieu !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Re: OOppps

Sometimes you have to wonder how some pilots made it even to their checkride, let alone through it. Fortunately the vast majority of aviation misfits get weeded out well before then, but not all.

Re: OOppps

I don't know the Trinidad panel, but it looks to me like they had a green down and locked for the nose, but not the mains. Could this have been a "planned" emergency arrival?

I have some TB20 time and that airplane has an amazing decent angle/rate with full flaps!

What a sick feeling for those guys. The expression on their faces is priceless when they look at each other afterwards!
