She is an O-360C1G. But, need to double check that. I spent a few days at Lycoming talking with some old guys and some new guys in their engineering department. I was assured the new engines were re-engineered several hundred times since the first 4 cylinder 60+ years ago.
The museum at Lycoming exhibits the sewing machines they used to make before they started automobile and aircraft engines. The car engines and sewing machines proved inferior but they made a great air cooled opposed 4 cylinder. The first ones were one piece, the case and cylinders. The big step was to re-design to remove and exchange cylinders.
