Original prop control and throttle refurb

We've been forced to Pponk our engine and are looking at fixing/replacing all the other stuff. The prop control cable is looking worse for wear but we love how it and the throttle look inside the somewhat original cockpit. Does anyone know of a place that can put on a new cable to an original knob?

Thanks,
Dan

I love those big knobs. I wonder where you can find modern big knobs? Other than looking in the mirror?

mine broke a couple weeks ago... ACS has them .... my new one came today... if you call them they will tell you they can build an new one exactly like your old one but you have to send it to them...

Another source would be mcfarlaneaviation.com. But they quoted me over 300 bucks for that cable. Yeah i know. Staggering when you consider acs charged me 89.00.

Re: Original prop control and throttle refurb

Some ACS cables are approved for Cessnas. From the linked website:

"The A-800-12 friction-lock throttle control are approved for Cessna 172, 172A thru Q; Cessna 150, 150A thru M, A150K, A150L, A150M; Cessna 152, A152. Other approvals pending. Order by Part Number and state Cessna model and serial number. The A800-12 length is based on serial number provided.
Made in USA"

Although it might not be strictly according to Hoyle, I know a guy who installed a 48" A-810 ACS throttle cable in his C180 and it fit fine and worked even finer.

Re: Original prop control and throttle refurb

Thanks for the advice. I called ACS and they said that since they are not a repair stating, they cannot put a new cable on an original control. Will try McFarlane now.

I can't speak about the prop cable knob, but the throttle knob will spin off. All you need is a wrench. 5/16 or 3/8, I just swapped mine out with a smaller style knob from another cable.
