Panel Power-up

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Panel Power-up

Image

It's been a while and I did say this was a "work in progress" but I've finally achieved a full power-up of my 170 panel upgrade. Interestingly you can clearly see the issue I commented on in the AV30 Product Support thread of the "toppling" EADI. The space to the right side of the floating panel will host an IPad Mini as a moving map display. As it happens with these on going builds I've already envisioned a Mk2 version and the new, never used in battle tachometer will eventually be replaced with a JPI EDM350 engine monitor.

Re: Panel Power-up

Thanks Kurt, I'm not much of a "sparky" so it's often one step forward and two steps back but getting there slowly.

The new wiring loom, its a lot less then the old bundle of wires.

Much cleaner behind the scenes as well.

Re: Panel Power-up

Awesome! I've been wondering about mounting an iPad to my panel, I'm not sure if I want to do it yet, but I'd sure like to see your install.

Nice work

Re: Panel Power-up

It will be flat mounted unless I can find a suitable "low profile" mounting device that will let it be angled towards the left for better viewing without projecting to far off the surface.

Re: Panel Power-up

I'm taking the 170 down on April 01 to start the install prior to the float season. A couple of BCP community members have ask about the source for the "digital" round dials so here it is for all.

Thanks, hopefully and with a bit of luck all will be "up and running" by early May.

Can you share ballpark prices? Interested in their engine monitor, but doesn't seem like pricing is posted anywhere.

You sell yourself short! That’s excellent work and since you didn’t smoke it, it even better!

I’m not finished yet so that’s still a very “real” possibility.

Re: Panel Power-up

The "groundhog" test is mandatory for me after any electrical work.

When you think you're all done, look away and power it up.

If you see your shadow, you have another week of work ahead of you.

Thanks, somehow I missed the price list link on that page the first time. Prices are very reasonable. Close to the EDM350 price.

Re: Panel Power-up

All of these “goodies” are closely priced which only makes it that much harder to select one over the other. I’ve tried to let each device stand on its own merit and when ever possible balanced that agains solicited operational experience. The flight instruments themselves had no real “other” challengers but there’s a plethora of engine related accessories so I leaned heavily on experience for those bits & pieces.
