Re: Photo thread: Ramp Mummies

And these are the only Ramp mummies I could find here at this time of the year

BCT: I have looked at your post several times and just realized the error in your ways.

As far as I can tell that is not Ramp Mummies, but some Ramp Mammaries.

Maybe this thread is where this should go. This link was on the National Geographic's Facebook page today.

I was on my way back from UAO to AWO yesterday and stopped by PLU for lunch. I saw this beautiful 310 in the tie down area. I imagine only a few hours to have it back up and running.

Re: Photo thread: Ramp Mummies

Flew to 82V (Pine Bluffs WY) today. Had never landed there before so Chris and I took the trip. This ramp mummy is a 170 that has been sitting here for over 17 years that I know of. Talked to a guy who works for an aerial applicator on the field who said it flys every now and then. It amazes me that the elements haven't destryed this machine. I think robw56 posted it some time back. Oh, by the way it was a beautiful day to fly.

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.

Re: Photo thread: Ramp Mummies

I thought it was over here that we were talking about this plane...but it must've been on another site. IF my memory serves me, this was at Willow, AK....like about '97??? Someone should know... and maybe someone will know what the heck they were trying to do with that leading edge?????

Re: Photo thread: Ramp Mummies

Thanks Matt!! Yah... tuberculosis! haha It was at Birchwood.... not Willow. If you look at the pics on the other thread, toward the bottom, it's got a lot less of those bumps... wonder if it helped?

Re: Photo thread: Ramp Mummies

I don't think this one has been posted yet.

Helio at Burns (BNO). Sad to see such a capable airplane rotting away. It's been there for a long time. Don't remember if it had a tail the last time I saw it 5 or 6 years ago.

It had the tail on it when I stopped there on my way back from Alaska last June.

Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

Re: Photo thread: Ramp Mummies

Just found this thread. Hi Yellowbelly, this is one of my local strips, I live on the other side of the mountain in the distance, the mountain is Mount Warning. Have taken many a joyflight in a motorglider around the summit, I would switch off and corkscrew around the top getting lift off the rock face and climb away above it. If you are ever back this way drop me a line.

They don't all have to die in ugly places either. This twin Beech has been mowed around for years in Murwillumbah, Australia.. Last year I saw she had been towed out of the way over by the hangars to continue her wait.
