Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Picture of 182 & Steves Gascolator? Fitment issue

I’m hearing that it is hitting the engine mount and I need a smaller bowl. However a 3 oz bowl would be smaller than stock. I’m sure it has been done. If anyone has a picture of the install that would be great. Thank you.

Picture of 182/180 & Steves Gascolator with a SPW mount?

It only hits the engine mount if you have a straight tail 182 and you’re installing the lower brace that is only installed when on floats. In fact in this very rare scenario you have to space whatever gascolator you have forward an inch or 2 to miss this brace. I ended up fabricating a new bracket and installed a bulkhead fitting under the floor to move the gascolator forward, see photos.

180/185 don’t have the horizontal brace installed when on floats and the wide body 182 have gascolator mounted higher on the firewall, missing the brace.

Well I just learned something new... Will have to file that for reference for the next time I get asked a fitment question...
Thanks Halestorm..

Whoops it looks like it was hitting part of the nose gear assembly. Anyone else had that problem?

Thank you very much Halestorm! I dont have the lower brace for floats but those pics should really help. I forwarded them along to my mechanic.

I would have to see a picture of your aircraft.... I find it odd for it to be hitting the nose gear..

This is a picture of a 58 with the cowling off, you would have to scroll in to see the gascolator but I know this one is free of any obstructions as I installed it.

Same airplane about 2 weeks ago..
