Pirep request on 3 blade HARTZELL HC-82VF-1DB on a straight

Any operators with knowledge of this propeller on a 470-R?

The thread on MT was useful in highlighting pluses and minuses

I am guessing the main advantage of this propeller is lower noise footprint, a bit smoother and a bit more grunt on take off thrust. OTOH it may weigh more and cost more to maintain?

Although somewhat unrelated, I flew a wide-body 182 daily for a year at low power settings (50%) at 2000' and lower, with a Hartzell (non-Scimitar) 3-blade. Operating at a low altitude at those low power settings, it indicated a couple mph faster than my exact same 182 with a Mac 2-blade. Both planes had 0-470-R's.
One time we flew both planes side by side at 5000' and 75% power, and the 2-blade Mac was a little faster, by about 3 mph if I remember right. The 3-blade Hartzell was smooth and climbed really well! Hope this helps.

Agreed it would be interesting to get the production numbers for the various models 1956-1962, and also what percentage may still be airworthy.

I have the impression the 182A may top both lists.
