On phone and cannot copy link now on news. Piper Comanche here at ktrk just went through the roof of my buddies hanger! He is wishing he had his plane in their...
Prayers to the family. Looks as though he stalled on take off. Not certain....

Very sad. One has to wonder why he took the airplane up, though, when there was a problem, unless he thought the only issue was density altitude. Probable lesson: if things aren't working properly, don't fly.

I wonder what the definition of highly experienced instrument rated pilot is according to the report who wrote the article? Don't meant to sound snarky. Hate to see anyone buy it.

I knew him. He will be missed. Very sad. I think he flew out of KTRK often (used to live and / or work up there) and so should have been well familiar with DA issues.
5000+ hours, at least 20+ years of flying, and had held his instrument rating a long time -- not sure how much IFR he flew but I know he did some.
