Re: Planning a Fishing Trip to Idaho

Thanks for the update Allen. I'm in SGU running the marathon the first weekend of October...but have the 8-9 available too. The rest of the month is M-F off. But I might be able to adjust my schedule, so we'll see what we can do. Will it definitely be a Sat-Sun trip for you guys?

Whee, IDA is an easy pickup, so that is good. Let's see what happens. I for one will be voting for JC for overnighting...as long as the power is still on, I plan on running an extension cord to the electric blanket in my tent! Getting pretty chilly up there at night!

Re: Planning a Fishing Trip to Idaho

We're open to any time of the week, as long as our schedules mesh. I was thinking a Wednesday-Friday thing, personally. It is getting chilly at night, but that's why I bring my wife!

kevbert wrote:You might want to call McCall or Salmon Air and get a smoke report before heading out into the Idaho backcountry. New fires keep popping up around here. A couple of days ago two fires started just north of New Meadows, now merged into one that is 3,700 acres. IFR conditions here in Council this morning, now about 2 mile visibility, presumably much worse in New Meadows, and when the wind is right there will be problems for McCall as well.

The local airplane mechanic tried flying out to Chamberlain Basin a few days ago, and he said there was so much smoke there (from the fire at Dixie, which is now 25,000 acres) that he couldn't see to land. He hit Reed Ranch on the way back, as it was fairly clear there.

So, be prepared to find another strip if your destination is unavailable, and bring enough provisions to last a few days if the wind shifts and smoke prevents your departure.

More important, how's Blossom and Einstien doing?
I'm headed up next week and wondering if I should bring 'em a bone?

Yeah, I usually have Dee for that too, but won't this time...and I don't think Whee would make a good substitute!

Hey Allen,

Is this still in the works or is it dead in the water?

Take care,

Cory

Re: Planning a Fishing Trip to Idaho

Was going to ask about this too. I'm planing on going to cabin creek on October 12th and stay for a day or two. Want to squeeze in a trip before the weather really turns cold.

Re: Planning a Fishing Trip to Idaho

I haven't posted anything because the date is still undecided. It looks like we may go the 4th, 5th and 6th. The weather is supposed to get colder then, but the fish don't mind!

Bummer. I'll be in the St. George doing the marathon this weekend. Let me know if it is a different weekend.
