Please help out our brother Bub.

Dear BCP family and friends, it is with a heavy heart I ask you all to join me and 52Romeo(Eric) in helping our BCP brother Bub. Bub has ALS. (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Bub joined the BCP forum Mar 14, 2007.

I got to know Bub on the forum and we hit it off. Same age 52, our kids are the same age, ride motorcycles, likes 4x4s, and airplanes.

I met Bub the first time in person the summer of 2007. Bub and his wife Brenda took me to dinner in Burns, Oregon and we had a great evening.

I don't know for sure when Bub was diagnosed, must have been some time in 2008. I got to visit Bub last August on my way back from OSH. He was using a voice synthesizer to talk for him. Bub said it best a while back. “I am in IMC, I have total vacuum and electrical failure, and my engine just quit”

Today is worse. As we can only imagine. Bub is in a wheelchair and has a feeding tube. He can use one hand and has to struggle with the voice synthesizer.

There is so much that insurance does not pay. 52Romeo called me this morning and said we need to help. I wholeheartedly agreed!

52Romeo,me and I know a lot of you will want to help our bro Bub. So lets break open our piggy banks and take all that loose change back to the bank.

Make checks payable to:

Robert Wright
AKA Bub
AKA skylane

Send them to me and I will get them to Bub.

My address:

Rob Burson
31930 SE Pipeline Rd
Gresham, Oregon 97080

I know you can email funds to a specific email. I will see how that works, maybe we can get it to Bub that way.

Thanks BCP brothers

We love ya Bub and your family. Your BCP family.

Bub and Zane

Ok making progress. Here is the link on Pay Pal, how to send money via a email address. Now I just need to get Bubs email.

Re: Please help out our brother Bub.

I've never been a big fan of passing the hat for causes, especially in forums, but this is different. Bub is a really great guy, he is one of us in a capacity much more than just an avatar, and I am embarrassed that we haven't done something sooner to help him and his family out. ALS is as cruel a disease as you could ever imagine. I don't really expect to take care of all his financial problems with a collection, but I'd like him to feel like we have his back.

He handed me the keys to his pickup the day I met him so that Erin and I could drive into town from Prospect airport. For all he knew I could have driven it like I landed my airplane that day.

If you've ever felt like you wanted to donate a buck or two to BCP to help me out with costs, then redirect that donation to Bub. Rob Burson is as trustworthy as they come, and if you send him a check or Paypal payment, it will get to Bub.

I'll be kicking in my share too.

Thanks,
Zane

Bummer, work on the paypal thing. Somehow I don't think I can send a check from Jeddah in Saudi Riyals that would be worth anything.

Best wishes

Re: Please help out our brother Bub.

I am still planning to go to Burns for pancakes at the airport. I am assuming that it is still on. Is there a way to take care of a donation at the breakfast.

In my town, when sombody has this sort of thing happen to them, a local bank sets up an account for donations. There is usually a BBQ and auction that is all donated for the cause. Isn't Bub in the Lions or somthing like that and what do they have going for him. Rob, I would try finding out what is already set up.

Rob-

Normally your Pay-Pal acct is your e-mail (eg; rob @ maulesarethebest.com) put that up and we will gladly do what we can to give a little something to help out.

I will be there too Tim. At this moment the wx seems to be shaping up quiet nice for a early lift off Saturday. I am a sweet 1.75Hour flight.

We will see Bub and I am sure there will be a way to give Bub and his family a check on the spot. I going to bring Benny, Ben, Bengie, Benjamin, and Ben Jr. if you get my drift.

I have the names and numbers for two gals who have something going already. I'll post there numbers shortly. I like the personal touch and I wanted Bub to know his BCP family cares.

All options will work and I am sure Bub and family will be thankful we care. Keep Bub in your prayers too!

Live each day like it could be your last my brothers...Rob

Re: Please help out our brother Bub.

OK, tried paypal and it seemed to work. Just take out "mail..." from the address provided by 52 romeo. Wish I could have done more, I certainly know about insurance not covering everything.

Re: Please help out our brother Bub.

OK, so if I am reading this thread correctly, this address : < [email protected] > is the right one to send PayPal donations, or is it just for e-mailing best wishes? Is that Rob Burson's e-mail / PayPal address or Bub's ?

Somebody verify that this is the correct place to send a PayPal donation and I'll send a few bucks, even though I don't know him personally ALS is indeed a terrible thing.

I confirmed that Bub's BCP registration uses that email above. It's the one Paypal donations should be sent to.

I met Bub when another BCP pilot (Rob?) flew him down to Bridgeport, NV for lunch a year or two back. Good people.

As much as the folks in Bridgeport might like to see themselves in Nevada instead, they are currently in Cali :)

Bad news about Bub's condition. Donation sent.
