Poison springs, Caveman, and Mack

Well I met Steve Wright at caveman and a few days later we went out flying together with Ladd. I knew he had a good camera but i was blown away by the picture quality and shot selection when he sent me this link yesterday.

It starts out at Mack but then moves to flying in utah. I think all you guys That know the utah area will like the shots.

PS keep in mind the shots on the grass are at 5000' so with that in mind i think we can all agree that the carbon cub may be pricey but it sure sets the standard in ready made STOL preformance

Cub flying goes best with Onions! Now you now need to plan a sequel..."Mo Onions" (the flip side to Booker T and the MG's "Green Onions")

Excellent all around

AMAZING Steve, really. Makes anything I've done look like old 8mm!

You may have said before, but what did you shoot with and how did you mount for the air to air shots?

Awesome stuff.

Steve uses a canon rebel t2i mounted on a custom strut mount. He has it connected to his lap top so the video is stored there and he can see what the camera is shooting as he flys.

I really liked the points of view, seeing another plane playing low FROM another one comes a lot closer to getting the fun factor across! I have a videographer friend who back country skis, and once I get my skis on for the winter, well we'll just see what happens

The hot flying didn't hurt either, I gotta get down there sometime.

Steve I was thinking you should try and come down for the spring caveman fly in. Be a lot of differnt planes to get shots of. If we planned it a little, i feel like with your camera skills we could almost make a little documentry of the utah back country strips. Get five or six planes together and then at each strip get a shot or two of a diffent person landing. Then interview someone at each strip about how the approach is and what to expect coming it to it. Maybe u could overlay that person talking about the strip with the view from your wing camera of the approach and what it looks like from the air.
I bet people on there way out to fly utah would love to be able to see what to expect. Be kinda like a video version of the fly utah book most of us have.

Just a though but I would like to do it.

I'd be in for that. Heck, I'd even pay for a DVD of the finished product.

You might get more than 5 planes if the wx is perfect, not to much dust, no mud, Rod let's everybody eat and camp for free, offer pilots free gas to show up, free margs from Gary. Other wise it is a crap shoot how many planes you will get.

We know how many will alter their personal schedule to match wx conditions.

Good day
