I may be keeping a plane outside this winter in cold country. I am an advocate of pre heating. is the Red Devil pre heater still available. Was thinking of some duct work for this item. What you think

Dewalt info is pathetically short on same. Found zero electrical info other than continuous electronic ignition mentioned.

Will you have access to AC power? I’m assuming not as you didn’t mention installing a Reiff or Tannis system.

I think that particular DeWalt heater requires AC power but they make a cordless version that runs on one of their 20V batteries if that works better for your situation.

I have a shiny ‘new’ red devil heater that’s never been used. It came with an airplane I bought 25 years ago. I don’t think I want to sell it, but I’ve thought I should fit one of those Lithium 12 V booster packs to it somehow so I don’t have to draw on the aircraft battery if I want to use it. Maybe. One day

I have a similar Ryobi set-up, lithium ion battery with propane as the heat source and it works very well. One "operational" note, make sure the ducting can be lengthened or shorten to prevent an "overheat" under varying OAT's. It took me a while to figure out why mine would occasionally shutdown. It's a safety feature, once I realized that and figured out process it was all good thereafter. The photo depicts "corded" operations however battery only function is possible as well, the cordless and corded versions are one in the same. I take it on the road for daytrips with a smaller propane canister as the fuel source, not the larger bottle its for hanger use only.

A couple folks on my home field had significant self-inflicted corrosion problems from more or less continuous oil pan heat in a cool hangar. Turns an engine into a fantastic distillation column for the nastys in the oil. But I don’t think that’s a risk with this kind of heater that will only ever be used an hour or two at a time.

I made a cowl for a big buddy propane heater. Works great and no power requirement. I refill the bottles from a 20lb propane tank.
