Propeller Balancer

To all,

Looking for input on dynamic propeller balancers; pros/cons, personal experiences etc. to be installed on an 0-300 possibly.

Are you talking about a Harmonic Damper Assembly, by chance, or are you talking about having your engine/propeller dynamically balanced?

A dynamic balance of any engine/prop combination is generally a good idea.

I have no idea why you'd want to install a harmonic damper assembly on an O 300.

Re: Propeller Balancer

I have a DynaVibe classic.. works well but takes a bit to figure it out. However once you get the hang of it, it does the job..

There is a pretty good video on you tube using one on a Grumman and they figured out a pretty close equation for how much weight to add that makes it a little quicker to get the readings where you want them..

I have an ACES unit that I bought from a guy on here. Works well, I've done a few balances with it and it has done a good job.

Okay, thanks. Now, are you considering going into business balancing props, or is this just for your personal use? If personal, you should only need a rebalance when changing prop/engine, or when damage is done to prop.

In other words, it’s a LOT cheaper to pay someone else to balance your prop.
