Purchase PPonk STC????
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
Have any of you purchased the PPONK STC and done the work yourself? I'm thinking of buying a runout io520 core and purchasing the paperwork so my mechanic and I can do the STC work on it. It's time to look at overhaul options so any insight would be appreciated.

Maybe talk to Steve Pierce over on Supecub.org. He is at Graham TX and did SJ's 180 a few years ago.

Or perhaps Steve Knopp himself? He's very helpful, and he'll have the most current pricing.

I did. Used a TSIO-520 because that was the easiest and least expensive way to go. Sent them the appropriate carb for re-jetting.
Call Steve, he is a great resource and was very helpful.

Flyfish-
Which version of the TSIO-520 did you use... the C or D or what? Just from my point of view I really like my alternator on the fan belt with my O-470R.

Not much difference between that and the Texas Skyways O 470 UTS.

Cub180 what was the cause of your vibration in your pponk motor? I have a texas skyways 0470U that I have been real happy with. It was there stc built locally.

It was carb . What I did I don't what to get in to it on this here . If some what's to know call me at 250 261-1883. The 0470u good way to go .my plane had that engine was real fuel effient. 520 just burns more fuel.i if I was to do again would go with hi rpm 470 2blade prop best bang for your buck.this was my 2 p.ponk install.other was 74 j model in 25years

I used a low/mid time TSIO-520P from a P210 that was in for a turbine conversion.
Steve at Pponk can tell you exactly which variations are best/easiest to use.
