Question for Airglas Fork experts

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Question for Airglas Fork experts

Here is a picture of the nose fork on my 182, is this the kind that needs to be cut shorter to add the big wheel fork conversion?

It'll depend on the year of your airplane. I had to cut 2" off the nose gear of my '56 182, but that was the tallest 182 gear Cessna made. IIRC the Airglas STC contemplates trimming the nose gear as needed, so no additional approval needed.

How big are you going on the mains? What size nose wheel?

This is my 1956 182, but my nose gear doesn't look like the original 56 nose gear which always looked so tall and lanky. Near as I can tell though it looks like the type that Airglas says needs to be chopped. Not a big deal but wonder if it can be done without removing?

I'm definitely not going 8.50s all around. Maybe 8s on the mains and 7 up front at the most.

That Knisely exhaust in the background with 125 hrs on it will be for sale as soon as I finish my seaplanes west engine mount upgrade. The shroud is pilot side exit, as was stock in 1956.

Why don't you just get a new heat shroud?

I've been looking at the knisely exhaust, is there another reason you're getting rid of it?

Stock exhaust doesn't fit with seaplanes west mount. The frame of the seaplanes west mount sits lower (because of the fat lord mounts I presume) and the stock 22" wide muffler is a few inches too wide to fit between the frame. So I had to buy a newer style muffler which is narrower and compatible with the mount (a few thousand dollar surprise). I went with Acorn welding. Not sure what year changed to the narrower muffler...

I have done them on the airplane but it's a pretty good time to install a new seal kit on the strut and service with new fluid and some STP. You can also install an intake hose on the strut for a run flat bumper at this time but I suppose you could do that with just the bottom end off.

THIS IS NOT A 1956 NOSE STRUT !!!! It's a 57 or later already shorter ! Don't cut anything !

Question for Airglas Fork experts

You will want to cut it .750-1.00 below where your tow bar is attached , the lower mount for the travel limiter (not sure of proper name) is machined into the airglass block that bolts to block and strut
I just installed a big fork on my 1960 182c

You will see there is only one bolt on strut not two, like original.one holding travel limiter and one holding original fork
Airglass is made to be like the later models
Zoom in and hopefully these help

You will need to cut. Here is some docs that come with the kit. Forget about the year it's all about configuration.
