Morning ice. Great. I am pacing like a caged tiger, not really. Been up since 0530 drinking. Coffee. Hot tub. The wx is so nice, damn I wish I had my M7. I see over your way it is socked in. Doesn't look good for Russ getting here in the morning for Big Bear. Might have to see if 172heavy still wants to come this way. So many good options. The fair sounds fun. I have never done the drive from here to San Diego so it might be fun I like to drive. The street fair here Saturday and Sunday morning at The College of the Desert is always good for eye candy. What you up to this week end?

Cheers...Rob

pretty much loaded.. Got a predicted log race tomorrow on a friends 42' Grand Banks starting at 8 AM pretty much takes up the day. Then I gotta get on this property and clean shit up or the war dept will strike...It is clear now here. it pretty much stays gloomy till about 11 or so in the El Cajon Valley and if the coast clears up at all it's only for a couple hours in the afternoon. If you are going to the fair it's great weather for that as it doesn't get so hot...fastest way to get to SD from there is freeway to Banning then south to I-15 then South to one of the cross freeways to Oceanside or Del Mar... about a 2 hr trip... good luck...

Hemet/Ryan Airshow

Another perfect morning. The Hemet Airshow was on so I opted for a road trip through the mountains to the show. Perfect airshow weather 75* 4 MPH breeze.

Re: Back to SOCAL

I still remember at a Chino air show 30+ years ago a stunningly good looking gal was walking towards me with a 'fat wallet' lookin' kinda guy....and I noticed her (and her) T-shirt that said 'A GOOD man is hard to find....'. Well, I didn't give the message a second thought, still appreciating her positive impact on the scenery. After she went passed I had to show more appreciation with another look-and the back of her t-shirt said 'A HARD man is good to find......'. It was a good thing I didn't have a mouth full of food-I would have choked on it. It was the first time I had seen that saying and, on her, it made an impact.

Yes, Rob, they do have 'babes' in SoCal and they don't mind 'showing the flag'-so to speak. 8)
LIVING with 'arm candy' would be a whole different topic.......

Met up with glidergeek and his son at 5:15. We flew to Parker, AZ. We walked about a mile to the Blue Water Casino and had the all you can eat buffet. Not to bad. Buy the time we took off it was dark. glidergeeks GPS was in the shop so we did it the old fashion way. Great time!

That was a fun flight. Got me thinking that is the first time I've flown w/no GPS since October 2006. I liked our method of dead reckoning. We don't need to time and way point BS. OK. Thats Thermal, no wait, thats El Centro, I think we need to go that way. Well maybe 10* over there. I know we are close, its right next to the freeway. We can just fly back and forth alone the freeway till we see it.

And sure enough as we got closer went right to it. And for all you back seat pilots yes we do know how to plot and use the VORs that would have been to easy.

We had a mile walk each way to the casnio across the desert. I didn't bring my clear glasses only my sunglasses. I didn't think we would be out after dark. Sunglasses at night, not a good idea. So we are hiking across the desert I got my sandals on and am thinking, I wonder if there are rattle snakes around here? 8)

Re: Back to SOCAL

Sunday drove to Riverside and met up with glidergeek, his wife, and her friend. We went to the Anaheim Angels ball game. My 2nd MLB game, way cool.

Then down to Newport Beach, I have never been there, great town. There was this yacht there 200' 4 stories with a full size ski boat inside the back with an auto launcher. Also had a helicopter up top. Who knows what type it is? Cost??

Getting ready to head to the airport to go home. 97* now. Showers and 60s home.

Iceman,
you know how them Oregonians are if they don't believe everything you say they will argue till they're blue in the face. Very gullible people why I told him "lookit Rob there's the Parker Dam" and sure enough he believed me

Yer right Parker Dam is the damn dam that holds Lake Havasu back, that was "Headgate Rock Dam". I learned something new there is still hope.

Rob we enjoyed your company next time you come down bring a handful of women with you preferably ones that shave their armpits.

You don't want any Oregon women. I do believe at Newport Beach there were more beautiful women than in all of Oregon. It must be our weather. We got your California hippie women transplants. You want them back?

We have a great airplane family here on BCP. It is really cool to have friends to link up with just about anywhere we go. I feel fortunate to know y'all.

glidergeek was a wonderful tour guide and host. 172 Heavy I got to meet yet. M7flyer, iceman, Rfinkle, EZflap are just a few of the socal contingent. I've had the privilege of spending time with these guys.

Until next time. Cheers...Rob

I think there were more TSA people at Palm Springs than passengers. They looked at my bag like a teen age boy with his first Hustler mag.

Hey Rob, you didn't happen to see the name On the yacht did you? Was it 'Triton' by chance? I can't tell from the photos.
