Red Hills Memorial Day Fly-in May 25-27, 2018
Get together with other pilots or enthusiasts. Plan it or get info about it here.
Red Hills 2018
Memorial Day is fast approaching for the annual fly-in at Red Hills. We are adding a couple of mountain bike rides this year to the activity list, so bring your bike if you have one. The options include a 2 mile and 4.5 mile route. This is a chance to see more of the Red Hills area up close on your bike.
This years activities include:
Saturday breakfast at Lodi (1O3)
Spot landing contest
Balloon bombing contest
Local fly-outs
Mountain bike rides
Saturday evening pot luck dinner
Sunday morning breakfast at Red Hills.
We can accomodate more planes this year since Jack Moyle has been busy with his earth moving toys, so be sure to invite others to join us.

It looks like we will be having a good time again this year at Red Hills.
We have a couple of nice bicycle rides scheduled so bring your bike to join the group.
Please let us know if you plan to attend and your arrival date.
Looking forward to visiting with everyone who can make it.

I’ll be there with my powered parachute. I might even get up the guts to fly it. Joey may bring his, he’s still on the fence. I’ve invited some of the local powered paragliding community as well.
We missed you guys at Easter. Just wasn’t the same without any airplanes there. I’ll be arriving Friday evening. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Saturday morning (5/26) about 8:45-9:00 am a few of us are going to meet and have breakfast at the Lodi Cafe at Lodi airport (1O3). After breakfast we will fly to Red Hills. If anyone else is interested in having breakfast there with us, let us know so we can get a large table.

Rich, I heard the cafe at Lodi no longer serves breakfast. I just looked on their website and it appears they only serve lunch and dinner from 11:30am to 8:00pm Tuesday to Saturday. Columbia (O22) might be a better option, there’s a diner called Mandy’s that’s less than a half mile walk from the ramp. There’s also a place called The Nugget that looks pretty good that’s in town 3/4 of a mile walk. The town is also kind of neat check out for those that haven’t been. It’s an old gold rush town... just kind of touristy. Another option if the WX allows (and if people are feeling more adventurous than a 5 minute flight to O22) is to fly over to Bridgeport (O57) for breakfast.

There's always Los Banos too. Country Waffles rocks breakfast. Right across the street from the airport.

I just confirmed that the Lodi Airport Cafe no longer serves breakfast. So, this is no longer an option for Saturday morning breakfast. When I called, the rep from the cafe did say they now only serve lunch and dinner. The food there is great but we will have to find another Saturday breakfast site. There is a good possibility that there is a Cessna 180/185 Fly-In there which would compete with the small restaurants in Columbia (just a thought). Any other ideas, anyone?

On a clear day the breakfast flight to Bridgeport is a real California gem.

Visited Jack and Myrna recently and they have the airstrip and vicinity looking fabulous. We've had some nice rain recently and things are really green - looking almost tropical around here. Buttercups are coming out too. Have an old photo of the 170 sitting in a dense splash of yellow buttercups right on Jacks strip. I always thought flowers on an airstrip was amazing.
Don't have another idea for breakfast but can confirm Mandy's at Columbia is a good place. Eat there for lunch a couple times a month, and she makes an effort to take it to a level a bit beyond the usual diner fare.
I won't make the fly-in this time as we will be visiting grandkids - taking the Cub to Bozeman. All good if I can keep my wife from getting sick in the back!
Rich - my pickup will be at Columbia. PM me and I can leave a key if it'll help facilitate transport to Mandy's. It's a 3 door extra cab with tonneau on the back so probably only 5 people capacity.

- Here's a shot of the Cub very near Red Hills last week.

Hey guys, looking forward to seeing all of you at Red Hills!
I will meetup with you-all wherever you decide to go for breakfast.
Could someone take a look at the link for the waiver, it is not working for me?

FYI if you've ever signed it then one time is good enough. No need to sign every year.

Hey BCP'ers:
I stopped in at Red Hills this week with Hawk and the Moyles are excited about the upcoming fly in over Memorial Day weekend. The runway is in great shape and the parking area will be mowed for the event.
We have a couple of options for Saturday breakfast. There is a car available at Columbia (courtesy of Chris Mullins (DocMoon) and we have an option in Jamestown (Moyles providing transportation). Please let us know your location preference if you will be joining us for breakfast on Saturday morning.
The Moyles are providing breakfast on Sunday morning at Red Hills and we don't want to run out of food. Please post here on the site if you are attending so we have a head count.
We are looking forward to good wx, good & safe flying conditions, good bike riding, good story telling and a great time. See you soon!
Rich....

I will be attending the fly-in and having breakfast Sunday morning. I will be arriving Friday afternoon. For Saturday breakfast, I would like to do the Jamestown option and drive to Jamestown about 9:00- 9:15 from the airstrip.
Any one else interested in this Saturday morning option?

I'm arriving Friday evening and am interested in breakfast Saturday. If we're driving I can help. I'll have 3 exta seats in the truck. If flying out I'd appreciate a seat.

I should be able to make it Saturday. I’ll keep an eye here for the final breakfast plan....a flight over the hill to Bridgeport would be fun if the wx is good, but I’d need a head start leaving from Fresno. Otherwise I’ll my second choice would be Columbia since it’s a fly in option
