Re: Reno Air Races

Getting the hangar cleaned up and organized, moved the planes out to the Ranch Airstrip Hangar, so there's plenty of room for people and good times.

Image

Hangar may be open throughout the day on Thursday and Friday as a place to hang-out, get a cold drink...... if Kevin or any of the crew want to open it up.
Saturday and Sunday, regular scene...... Sour Dough Cakes on the griddle in the morning, BBQ Tri-tip and lots o' food throughout the afternoon. The blender is known to be spinning up drinks any time of the day. Can help shuttling in coolers, food or drink as time allows.

I have seen a post that our own, "Contact Flying" is to be in attendance over the weekend, all are welcome to use this as the gathering- hanging-out location!

As you come in the "pit entrance gate", just a little ways ahead, first hangar row to the left, hangar is on the left.

I have heard that Kevin's SQ-2 may be on display on the ramp, so I expect he'll be around most of the event.

Look forward to sharing some time!

Re: Reno Air Races

It's looking like a good show this year even though the unlimited field is a bit thin on the fast end. The F1 class is full and has some new fast guys up front. The record holding biplane Phantom is out for the year so the race becomes more important for the guys who usually battle for second.. 2 T-6s qualified yesterday at 249 and 250mph. Hope to see those guys duke it out over six laps. The jet gold race was really good last year with the Vampire chasing down the L-39s. Vampire gets significantly faster as it burns off huge amounts of fuel compared to the more efficient L-39s and L-29s. This year there are 2 vamps. should be good. Sport class is big and competitive this year. Lancair, Glasair or Thunder Mustang? all of them pushing 400. And the blue angels. And the weather looks good. Highs in the low to mid 80s, Doesn't look like its gonna be windy,

(Whee? - am I helping?)

The engineer in me is trying to figure out how that hangar supports itself with no front walls/supports haha. That's a nice place you have there!

NVFlier,

Thanks for letting me hang out at your hanger. I hope to see many I know only through the BCP site.

Re: Reno Air Races

Looks like an even better time for BCP at the races.
First time in many seasons that I missed RAR but I have an important wedding to attend in SoCal.
I will especially miss Dave's Hangar and the social part of BCP. I may get there Thursday but probably wont't see you Dave. Maybe at HSF.
Whee, if you don't make it this year let's put t our heads together for next year. Where there is a will there is a way.
I also regret missing Contact. If not next year how about HSF ?

September is Reno Air Races -- not a time for a wedding !!!

Re: Reno Air Races

Ahhh Chance,

It's always such a pleasure to share time and conversation with you..... You will surely be missed!
I'll cook up a batch of sour dough's and bacon for you later in the fall..... sounds like a good excuse for a fly-in breakfast....?

Make those Newly-Weds feel special....... even though they don't know September is for Air Races.

Look forward to crossing paths....

I have banished myself from all activities except family stuff until significant progress has been made on my project. No more sturgeon fishing, jet boating, hunting or messing with my JD tractor. I'll be missing HSF yet again but if all goes well I'll be flying by mid summer 2017.
