When I am up in AK for the Airmans show the plan is to do some BC flying and try out the GoPros, so I have been exploring mounts. In the past, I have been a huge fan of the RAM system, hose clamping their balls onto different places. (no kinky comments please...)
A bit ago, I saw one of our members (Addicted2climbing) talk about a new mount he had developed. I can be a bit of a peckerhead/gear snob some times and was skeptical on the board about it as I really like well engineered stuff that wont fail.
Anyway, its reasonably priced (Spruce sells it for $120,) so decided to get my hands on one and check it out. Yesterday I finally got a second to pull it out and give it a good look. My first impressions are that I was totally wrong. The mount is well thought out, very well engineered and super beefy.

Kit comes with the ball mount, arched back bracket with velcro straps, a nice microfiber bag to clean your camera lens, as well as some extra straps and replacement wear items. I will be using the mount with a GoPro Hero3, but it will work with most of the small HD cameras. My one (and only) critique thus far was the kit did not come with the adapter to fit the GoPro to the threaded screw on the ball head. I think if you were ordering this last min and thought you had everything you needed to blast out the door, you would be boned. The good news was you can get that part anywhere local. I picked it up at the local REI for $10. I would suggest that Marc add some text to the description on the vendors websites advising the customer they will also need to order this part or perhpas just include it in the kit.
The kit I am testing was listed as being for the C180/182, however I quickly tested it on my 180, a 170, 182, and 150 and it seemed to work on each. Not sure what the difference in the parts are.
Marc's pics on the Spruce site are pretty bad (sorry Marc) so I shot you some additional ones. Feel free to use them wherever you deem appropriate.
So far Im impressed and am excited to give it a try. I will try to get down to the hanger with the camera and shoot some pics on the strut. Its beefy, US made, and sold by one of our own BCP members. I suggest that if you need a camera mount that you support him and order one up! Kudos Marc. Nice product.
