Rudder bearings Cessna 185

Hi all,
We need to replace the rudder bearings on our 1974 Cessna 185. Does anyone here know how to source the lower rudder bearing (FAFNIR S1K5)? We see that Cessna has the replacement bearing Y120 in stock, but it costs USD 1,100.. Any suggestions on where we can find the bearing would be much appreciated.

Most of the Cessna flight surface small bearings had an associated Mil Spec number. In the case of the Fafnir S1K5 I believe that was MS24461-4. You may have better luck looking for that P/N. HTH, Ron
Add: McFarlane has the MS24461-4 for ~$160, or 7x less expensive. Still a ridiculous price; 10 years ago, you could find them for $10 or $12.

As you’re on floats, I’d recommend
McFarlane’s PPA1401 bearings. These polymer bearings are STC’ed to replace all elevator and rudder bearings except for the bottom rudder bearing — unfortunately, that’s the one bearing you’re looking for. Originally developed by Steve Knopp of P.ponk Aviation.
