You guys amaze me with you unsubstantiated "liability issues" theories. The DATA is there for all to see.
The feds adopted the California CARB requirements nationwide as of 1.09. Any can that is not in compliance with these regulation can no longer be sold in the USA.
This from a 4-wheeler store:
UPDATE: To comply with new regulations for 2009, we will not be getting more of these in stock [NATO Jerry cans]. The current supply has been exhausted. Thank you to everyone who ordered and as soon as we understand the strange new regulations and find a compliant can that doesn't suck- we'll get them in stock!
These guys used to sell the "old-school: metal NATO cans preferred by some folks here.

Savannah Tom asks: Why did they quit selling old-school NATO cans?
I bet you can guess the answer........
BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT CARB COMPLIANT.
From the website listed above:
" Effective 12/31 we are halting sales of all NATO cans
nationwide, due to new federal regulations. We will continue to work on a compliant spout and we hope to be able to offer these cans again soon. Currently out of stock: All spouts, all seals, all water cans. All 20 and 10 Liter NATO: that's the end of those
Plenty of 5L (1.3 gallon) NATO left, but sales end on 12/31."
Why can they sell those pathetic Chinese cans that spill, leak and are fragile?
BECAUSE THEY
ARE CARB COMPLIANT!
MTV and others please continue your unfounded liability-based wild-assed guesses, and theories despite all of the evidence to the contrary.
FYI: Here is a company in the U.A.E. that sells pretty much every can known to man. But of course, I could be wrong about this too.

Maybe I could get them ship a palletload into Mexico and smuggle them across the border. This situation is completely whacked and our country has lost its collective mind.
Onward through the fog! Mark
