Scooters in love, another new way to get around

Two scooter riders meet, fall in love, and ride off into the sunset. The scene of them riding parallel and holding hands #-o https://lunacycle.com/one-mile-scooter/

Seriously though, this is yet another pretty slick little way to avoid walking. I can see it being useful for those that regularly find themselves on large concrete ramps a long ways from the FBO, (not me) or for getting around in a large home (again, not me) maybe. You may want to call ground control first, just to give the tower guys something to talk about, "cleared to taxi?" Take your handheld with you.

Oh, but wait! It has the dreaded bane of aviation: the infernal lithium chemistry battery... #-o

(you know it's coming...)

I have personally have lead acid batteries cook to destruction but that hasn't kept us from continuing to use batteries to start our planes and vehicles. Since I have been looking at reasonable alternatives for last mile transportation, these little scooters look like a great idea. One of the biggest stumbling blocks to flying somewhere is last mile transportation. Just imagine how much more flying we could do if that issue were solved.

Thanks for the post; I like your ebike idea too, especially since it will fit nicely in the Maule. :D

My ebike (with help from the rider, but you don't have to be Lance Armstrong) gets me up places like here. http://www.dangerousroads.org/north-ame ... butte.html The scooter concept would be fun in the right place, with a full sized bike, anyplace is the right place!

One of my old hang gliding sites, the wind was really howling the day I rode up there, way to windy to fly even my plane, but it brought back a lot of memories and the view was as good as usual. I fly by it all the time, but it was kind of cool to be standing on top of it.

You guys seen these yet? https://onewheel.com/products/onewheel-plus

A bit pricey but has a 5-7 mile range (probably less if you're going uphill a lot), looks pretty small, charges reasonably quickly, and one test report I read suggests it actually handles rough terrain pretty well. The older model is 25lbs so this is likely similar. I think if they changed out the frame and steps for carbon fiber they could probably cut that weight a good bit more, but this could still be a reasonable way to get from your plane to wherever.

Re: Scooters in love, another new way to get around

Seems a fair price, not Asian junk but high quality components. Looks like fun, but pretty limited for practical use, but screw that, looks like fun =D> Another way for me to make the 1.5 mile trip to the mailbox.

Yesterday I rode my ebike16 miles, had to get to the crane that was left on a job. Today 18 miles, another shuttle involving the crane, the RAV4, the Dodge flatbed, and the bike provided a simple "final" solution. Averaged 18 mph, pedaling the entire way but not real hard. My watt meter tells me how much I am contributing to the motive force, around 100 watts is moderate exercise if one is reasonably fit, but certainly you don't need to be wearing spandex and be uber fit! I like the way the ebike doesn't look like a clown act, 99.9% have no idea it is not a regular bike. But really, I'd like to have a whole stable of these one, two, three, and four wheel thingies people keep coming up with, something new all the time! Using it or anything with airplane is a good excuse.
