Scott Tailwheel

I replaced my baby bushwheel with a 10” Scott 3400. After I set it down it looks like the arm is cocked in the mount. The through bolt is as tight as it can get, it feels like the nut is hitting the shank of the bolt. The BBW has to much grease around the pivot faces for me to tell if it sat the same way, but I’m wondering if I need a shim or something for it.

Thanks
Rod

Re: Scott Tailwheel

It certainly looks like your center pin/bolt is loose, you show a visibly larger gap in the front than in the back.

Re: Scott Tailwheel

I think that there is a ring that appears to not be installed between the two halfs, where the assembly joins together. There is an exploded view in the aircraft spruce catalog. I don't have one here right now though.

Im curious, any particular reason you swapped?
Problems with the BBW?
Or is the 10" t/w just a better fit for your flying?

Re: Scott Tailwheel

Thanks to Hotrod180 I figured out that part #16 had a small burr on it and it was not letting things go completely together. I cleaned up the burr and it went together like I expected it to.

My reason for swapping was threefold... 90% of my flying is pavement to pavement ;-(, the BBW is very prone to shimmy on pavement ( I didn’t want to destroy an expensive tailwheel using it on pavement ), and I also got a smoking deal on the Scott, so I thought why not.

I have a list of those interested in it, but for right now I don’t have plans to sell it. If that changes I’ll go down the list, although I doubt it will be hard to get rid of.

Thanks to all!
