Seat upholstery by Sport Aircraft Seats

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

You guys do some great looking work. I see the notch in the front of those seats above is made especially for BCP members so their balls have some extra room.

Yes, and as you can also see the base foam is shorter so they can have extra room up top for their giant head :P

Hey I am new here but I really like seeing companies active in the chats. I have an old 182 with a rear bench similar to the 170 rear seat you showed. do you have any pictures of the standard upholstery on one not the light weight set up?

Re: Seat upholstery by Sport Aircraft Seats

Hey guys, we have been doing a lot of bench seats lately, many of them for BCP users I believe. I am in the process of making more product photos for the website and thought I would upload a few here. Thanks for all the support, sponsoring this site has been great for us so far, thanks Zane.

Have you worked up a kit for 206 rear seats? I have the simple, low back, non-articulating ones.

Thanks

Re: Seat upholstery by Sport Aircraft Seats

I finally installed my seats in my 180. I had an articulating pilot seat, and both seats had been reupholstered a few years back, so they were in good shape. But, I determined that the articulating seat had me sitting lower than I could be with a different seat, and it was heavy.
So, I found a set of 1957 172 seats that were horribly ugly but the frames were solid. I stripped them down, had them powder coated and finished them off with new upholstery from Sport Aircraft Seats. They look good, they feel good, and it raised me up about 2.5 to 3 inches. I can now see the top of the cowling, the improvement is huge. I am absolutely tickled with how they turned out, and it was easy to do. I also saved over 14 pounds by going this route!

Re: Seat upholstery by Sport Aircraft Seats

I've gotten a bunch of eMails over the last month or so from folks asking about who I used to use for seats... I just wanted to report that I have now been exclusively working with Daniel at Sport Aircraft Seats. His stuff is awesome, problem free, and so easy. It's also really nice to give him the business since he is a BCP supporter! Thanks Daniel!

Re: Seat upholstery by Sport Aircraft Seats

Well, utilized the winter and my medical hiatus to cleanup and reupholster the interior on the old bug smasher. Had Daniel and the crew at Sport Aircraft Seats do the seat upholstery and can honestly say the seats are better than any photos that were on their website(which are pretty good anyway). Great people to work with and I highly recommend them. Nice to have the inside of the machine look as good as the rest of it. Thanks guys.Image

Please work up a pattern for the old Cessna 140 Bench seat back and seat pads. Airtex are the only option and they are 4.5 months out at the moment. Thanks.

Have you talked to any auto upholstery shops?
There's one near me that's done quite a few airplane seats, and they all turned out very nice.
