He had just retired from the army and started doing check rides when I was flight instructing for a living. He was always such a positive person.

Dale and Donna are still here. Healthy as ever.

Well phooey, Foggy August (AKA Fogust) extended into September and it was IFR here all morning. There was a brief period of VFR weather around 2:00 PM and then the rain cam back with low ceilings and low vis. That kept me on the ground today, so I missed the Food truck and planes at 49WA. I hope folks based at places other than the Northern Puget Sound were able to fly in. My flight hours are really down this year, mostly due to weather that hasn't cooperated. Sigh. This image is from my front porch at 10:00 AM. I'm just 3 miles from the airport.

I had to cancel too, due to low ceilings & poor viz-- both at home & along the way.
But apparently the wx was better in the south sound area..
Ben sent me a pic of a bunch of airplanes at the fly-in.
Im bummed that I couldn't make it, but Im glad they had a good turnout.

We came up from the south and had a great time at the Cougar Mountain fly-in. Guess there were 57 planes in total. Also had coffee at Pilot's Pastures to the south on the way up. Another beautiful strip. A little but of scud running on the way up but the weather was nice and warm for most of the day at 49WA. We left around 2 PM - guess some big showers rolled in around 3 PM. Welcome to the Pacific Northwest. Great Fly-In and fun to see everyone.

Considering the forecast, it was a great turnout. Thanks everyone for a safe and fun event. Good seeing the regulars and good meeting new folks.

I'm glad to hear that Dale and his wife are still there and living the dream. I did my initial CFI with Dale a zillion years ago. They are both great people.
