Shoulder harness install in c182E?
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
I’m looking to upgrade from the three point Cessna seatbelt system in the front of my 182E (first year of the wide body). I’m leaning toward BAS but haven’t done all the research yet to see what else is available.
When I spoke with them there seemed to be some confusion regarding fitment and install details for the 1962 model as their documents implied that 1962 was still the narrow body / fastback version of the 182 (which it isn’t at least in my case).
Has anyone here put harnesses in a 1962, C182E? Were the nut plates already installed or was metalwork required? Also, is there a hard point in the rear of the aircraft such that I could repurpose my current 3-point setup for use on the rear seats?
Thx.

I installed the BAS in my E model, installation was the same as a 180/185. There’s some reinforcements that rivet and screw to the spar carrythru directly behind the pilots head’s and that’s it.
I don’t recall any problems with the instructions or the STC.

Thx! Sounds like no holes need to be drilled in the outer skin; just interior work...is that right?

There are a few holes drilled thru the roof to attach the reinforcements, here’s a detailed post on the installation:
