Contrary to what's painted on the stern, it's not from Montana, although the owners were. This was taken out in the wilds of BC, Canada, specifically at Princess Louisa, the absolute most beautiful place on this earth.

You nailed it right there. That's 1/2 of my retirement goal.

What is it, and is it street legal?

These two helped us dock at Roche Harbor with a different yacht, a 36' Grand Banks, in 2014. Of course, they really didn't have to do much work, superb boatman that I am. :)

Re: Show us Your Tug.

I like the olive drab mini truck. We use those on our farm. Street legal in some states but not CA. To be sold in the states they come with a plate(easily removed) that restricts the tranny to first and reverse. We put a slow moving vehicle triangle on the back and as long as the driver doesn't go over 25 they are street legal(like a farm tractor). Cool little trucks come with 4 wheel drive, hi/lo range and some even come with air conditioning. I gave one to my teenage sons to drive around. We put atv tires on it and it will go anywhere. Probably would make a great tug.

Hmmm. "Clear prop" also means that the tug shouldn't be in the way of the swinging prop, right?

Re: Show us Your Tug.

Friends of mine at the airport are releasing their new tug, Best Tugs, at Sun'n'Fun as we speak. All electric, doesn't slip on snow or ice (it transfers all the weight of the nose gear to the tug for traction), won't hit the prop, etc. It's pretty cool. I saw them tie together 5 airplanes and pull them around all at once with it. I don't own one - for now the 170 isn't that hard to move around. I did get to play around with one and move a TBM, a Premier Jet, and a Cirrus. I think there are 3 different models for various airplane sizes. Anyway, I have no affiliation with them other than they are cool guys and good friends.

I have to agree with you about Princess Louisa. My Dad takes his Marine Trader up there for about a week every summer. I'm hoping with the float plane me and the kids can drop in to visit my Dad and Mom when they're up there.

Each time I've been to Princess Louisa, a float plane has come in, shut down for a few minutes, then has cranked up and flown out. The trouble with that is that Princess Louisa changes almost hourly, so that to really experience her beauty, you really need to stay a couple days or more.

A short story: At the end of The Ultimate Small Boat Adventure (still available, only $15.95, Barnes & Noble, Amazon), I had just loaded the boat onto the trailer at Port Orchard, WA and was taking down the radar unit in preparation for hitting the road. A fellow about my age came over to pass the time and asked where I'd been. I told him about my saga, from Port Orchard up through the San Juan Islands, the Gulf Islands, to north of Campbell River, with stops along the way at Prideaux Haven in Desolation Sound and Princess Louisa.

He commented that that was quite a trip in such a small boat, and I replied that I felt like God was with me all the way, protecting me in spite of some pretty rough weather. Then he said that he was an atheist and didn't believe in any of that God stuff. But what he said next was very peculiar, especially coming from an avowed atheist. "They say that God made Princess Louisa last, because after examining what He'd done, He knew that He couldn't do any better."

Re: Show us Your Tug.

No boats, no motor cars, not a single luxury... well, maybe TrackTech the robot tug counts as a luxury. It sure makes it easy!
