Take me climbing in the Cascades! The only place I go is Smith Rock and the camping there is terrible!

South Beach scares me because that is where all the sharks hang out   those damn river mouths! But I can put those fears aside to hang-ten for a while.

Lots more than just Smith Rock; http://www.oregonchoss.com

If you do ever want to go to Smith I have a house near Sisters, sure beats camping :D

Cool dude! I climb about 5.7 and follow 5.8. Have a massive rack and rope collection!

There has been some harassment by Great Whites in the area! We could surf Agate up by the light house. I agree river mouths are not the safest places to surf!

I will PM if I get a chance in KONP... Thank you for the updates!

Awesome, well go climbing sometime for sure. I've got uhhh quite a bit of shit too. My friend and I where talking the other day and figured probably enough crap to climb 5 hard el-cap routes simultaneously...

I've got a jeep stashed at the Sisters Airport, so that makes flying out to Smith pretty easy :D

I work out at Smith Rock during the spring through fall so if you or anyone flys into Sisters(which btw has avgas, courtesy car, courtesy bikes and fresh pavement), I'm happy to take you climbing/fishing or whatever if I am around....

Yeah I've honestly never surfed South Beach for that reason, Agate and Otter are great tho and a little further from a river mouth

I should be out in Newport sometime next week for some frisbee golf. Sooner if this fog lifts! I've got a very good friend moving to Newport in March so in the future I will be out there quite a bit.

Re: SIGMET EASTERN PACIFIC

You guys are killing me with this surfing/climbing talk.

We just had a 4 days of 4' swell out here. Been quite a drought. Not much climbing in the winter for me. Climbing on ice always seemed so sketchy.

Smith Rocks is a cool place. Some great climbing there.

Re: SIGMET EASTERN PACIFIC

I would love to take the kids and wife over to see it! What do I need to know? Can I get there in my two wheel drive escalade if it rains tomorrow ? Are there good vantage points up high? Any info would be great.

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob,

Are you on Maui? The roads are going to be PACKED with cars tomorrow. Get you google maps and leave for the North Shore really early! 2 wheel drive gets to most shores.

Re: SIGMET EASTERN PACIFIC

Ya we are here! We made it to hookipa (I think) the other day and watched the surfers!
I got the map and figure I know where to go but do you think that road will be drivable tomorrow with my pos escalade?

Thanks

Hi Bob,

Not sure. Have not been to Maui for awhile! I have to leave and secure my boat ... good luck, it's going to be big! Maybe the biggest day in recorded history!

Cool.
I'm going to do my best to get the family over there and get some pics.

Thanks and good luck with the boat.

Re: SIGMET EASTERN PACIFIC

UNABLE.

To much for my young family. Kids are only 3 and 4. We would have had to carry them for 3 mile round trip in mud.

On our way back after lunch the traffic was backed up to mile 2.5. The JAWS turn off is at mile 12.5.

We did watch some nice 30 ft sets roll into hookipa! Very powerful and only the best of the best with a lot of support (helis, boats, jetskis) we're surfing JAWS 60 ft plus rollers!
Next time...lol

Sorry about the rain and mud! At least you got to see a few gnarly waves! We had a strong Kona (on shore) wind today in Honolulu. Really messy surf. Our sailboat at the Ala Wai was bouncing around a bit.

I just arrived in Portland, OR tonight. Hopefully will be flying this weekend in the
Scout.
