Simulator For Garmin 430

Good Day All,

I know Garmin has a simulator on their website for the 430/530...but i cant seem to get it too work. I have read the requirements on the site to run this program....I have tried it in XP, later versions of windows, and even tried running it "as XP" on the later versions.

Anyone have any hints or somewhere else to find the Garmin 430 Sim.

Thanks

I've loaded it on several computers from the Garmin site. Sometimes you have to load it more than once . I have heard lately, though from a couple folks they just couldn't get it to run.

Try reloading it, and hold your mouth just right while doing so.....

Re: Simulator For Garmin 430

Before I had the new 430W installed, I spent hours on the website version of the simulator, without difficulty, running XP and downloading the sim. A CD/DVD or whatever you call that plastic disc came with the new one--I haven't opened it, but it purports to be the same as the web version.

As you can see, I'm pretty stupid when it comes to computers. Unfortunately, trying to learn the 430W, I'm finding out I'm pretty stupid regarding it, too. But I figure if 9000 other pilots can learn it, so can I, if I live long enough. :)

Don't delude yourself. Most of those 9000 pilots have probably only figured out how to turn it on, change frequencies, and sometimes get the Direct To button sequence right. Ain't it a shame they didn't bless it with their much more intuitive portable interface?

I've flown several airplanes with 430/530's and found myself solely using my 196 on the Yoke except for frequencies. Guess I am going to just force myself to learn to use them one of these days. I agree the user friendly part of those systems is severly lacking.

Maybe, unless you're flying IFR. I tell students that even I can fly IFR with a 430. :D :)

When you say that you can't get it to work, do you mean it launches OK but won't function, or do you mean it won't even launch?

Re: Simulator For Garmin 430

I've not used the 430/530 simulator - but I use the G1000 simulator and it works for me. I find the simulators are not very good - and in some cases don't match the firmware of the particular installation. I think sitting on the ground and playing with it without the fan turning is just as valuable. Once you figure out the "way" you navigate around the Garmins - all of them are pretty similar. I still heavily prefer my iPad with foreflight.
