Slow server

I know... it's dog-ass slow. Obviously the old server could handle all of us just playing with the forum, but something else is wrong and I'm building up a newer, faster server to accomodate the heavier footprint of our new software. There's no replacement for displacement...or something like that.

In the meantime, there's no reason why the site has to be off. You guys can play with it, it'll just be a little slow. Tapatalk should work too. Give the push notifications in Tapatalk 2 a try and let me know if they work.

Back I go into my laboratory. Sorry for the poor performance. It was really zippy a couple days ago. 8)

Re: Slow server

The new forum was worth the wait. You did awesome! You did great making forum software look much less forum-ish and more social-ish. I will now amuse myself with discovering the new features of the site. Thanks for the hard work you put into this site!

Re: Slow server

It's faster for me now. I use Linux and everytime I logged on or clicked a thread it was about 30 seconds for the old one, even when disabling the adware. Supercub has always been fast. When I visited my aunt last week in Minneapolis her Windows 7 on DSL was very fast for BCP. Hope Linux stays fast now and thanks for your efforts.

Re: Slow server

Slow?
I don't know how this stuff works, but I'm guessing I click on the link and it has to get to somewhere like California and back to me here in Oregon?
I'm thinking it would be faster if you just flew it down and back in the cub you fly? LOL

Re: Slow server

I build a completely new server, this time 64-bit, and threw some hardware behind it. It's more $$ but I would pay anything right now to have the site running fast. Over time I'll do some better optimization of the code to run faster, like leaning for takeoff!

I neglected to write down my original server build details so I had to go from memory and trial-and-error. If you find any weird bugs like Internal Server Error, let me know how you got there.

Thanks!

Thanks. I'll be working on this one today. Looks like the comment still gets posted despite the error.

Dealing with lots of residual issues... like when you spend 6 months adding little things to your server and then try to replicate that from memory in 1 day.

It's working better everyday. Can we buy some more hats & tshirts to help pay for that horsepower?

Of course! Just have to make them first. Gonna work on that once we get stable here.

Hmmm... figure out how to make it slow for 180Marty and it should speed up for the rest of us like it used to be.
