Re: Sounds of the Skywagon

Found the clips of when I landed the second spot in the Skywagon video with my previously owned Supercub (the one I should've kept #-o ). It shows the difference between the two planes...whats relatively easy in the cub, makes you pucker a bit more in the wagon.

When it comes to pioneering new spots, the Skywagon is second to one...the Supercub

The Wagon is fantastic for scouting, especially long range. Fast and lots of fuel. But the Super Cub wins for playing, that's for sure.

Haha, Evan I'm sort of in the same boat you are right now. I recently bought a Supercub after making a bit of dough on the sale of my house. Seems like a sound financial decision, right?!?!

My intent was to get back to the Supercub style of flying that I love so much, and that I missed for the last couple years. I figured I'd keep it around for the summer until I got my fill, then sell it and keep the Wagon. Fast forward to the present, and I'm having a really hard time trying to decide which one to get rid of #-o .

I'd love to keep them both, but the reality is, I really can't afford two airplanes...at least not these two airplanes. I've been renting a place at Skypark here in Fresno, and it's a great place for a pilot to live....great neighbors, my airplane sitting right in my front yard, and a runway within walking distance of my front door. But if I want to stay here and stop pissing away money on rent, then I need to sell one of these airplanes for the down payment on a place here....they don't come up for sale too often, and I need to be ready to jump.

Without going into too much detail as to the reasons why, keeping the Supercub seems like the best decision for the better part of my mission. I've just got so much time and money invested into the Wagon, it will be painful to see her go  I know, I know, first world problems, right?!?!

Say it isn't so!

Can't you stop eating for awhile, or sell your sperm, or both? If that won't save you enough money then I say sell the helicopter, put a stretcher door on the 180, and don't go back to the office for a while!

First world problems for sure.....

I am currently looking at having to move to Eastern PA by September 18th. The location is 6.5 hours driving, 3.5 hours (no wind factor) by Savage Cub, and 2.5 hours (no wind factor) by Skywagon or equivalent.

My line of work takes me wherever the wind blows and gas flows. If I want to continue to have first world problems, I will follow the work. I have had a feeling that this was coming for a bit, and that is one reason for the IFR work as of late.

Ill make a deal with you. I will buy the Skywagon, and in three years when the job is up, we can trade and I will fly the cub! HA.

I am trying to purchase the balance of the farm here for my future plans, so that requires capital. That requires a good paying job! But that means I get to fly with purpose. That is fun too.

Re: Sounds of the Skywagon

barnstormer, I love that video! There is nothing like the sound of an 88" prop on takeoff. I love the sound on ours on our 180, it is unmistakable! I wish it sounded as good in the plane as it does when the plane flies over! Buzzzzzzzzz....
