South-Central Alaska Fires...
Not necessarily information about airstrips or airports, but more general info about a greater area or a route of flight.
Been a crazy dry spring. This spring has been one of the best summers I've ever seen.
No trips to Anchortown planned for a month at present...hopefully we have had enough rain to settle out the fires and smoke by then.

I flew down to Homer on Sunday with a couple sons to go clamming and returned over Tustemena lake with no sign of smoke or fire near the lake. By Tuesday the Funny River trail fire was roaring which led to a couple days of poor visibility in Anchorage this week after the wind shifted north. This is apt to be a bad fire season with snow going early, little to no rain, low humidity, and wind. On the other hand burning the dead wood and starting fresh browse will be good for the moose so it all works together in the big picture.

Smoke from the Tyonek fire is barely visible in that first image, if you know where to look. It's drifting across the inlet. The morning overpass picture from the sister satellite shows the smoke a bit better, but those two fires are magnitudes of order different.
Watch for the TFR's!
