Spring Ski Flying
Links to general aviation backcountry flying-oriented videos. It can be yours or stuff you find on the internet. Please no airline/military.
Messing around with a GoPro on a fine March afternoon. Nothing fancy, but a little look at the front yard and backyard here on Yellowknife Bay, and some of the finest flying weather we'll have.
And yes, that is a Snow Castle to the right on landing.

I think i fixed it - apparently the youtube tags require some checkout before using. I'll read up.

Man, just looking at all that ice & snow makes my old bones ache. It's been damp with highs in the 40s locally and even that makes me want to hide under the blankets. I'd post one of my recent flight videos, but the backcountry stuff around here is closed from October through May due to wet and really soft conditions. All of my recent flying has been to paved strips, or grass runways with really good drainage. It's not very inspiring, but it keeps me from getting too rusty over the winter months. The trees think good weather is coming because they are all starting to bud. The pollen count is already high enough that I'm back on my antihistamine drugs (mostly Flonase spray). Come on summer!

Gary, I find dry cold below 10°F to be more comfortable than 32-40°. Sounds backwards but that extra humidity really sucks the heat out of your body more effectively I think.

Hi Zzz yes it often feels colder when it is warmer in spring. A lot of it is simply that we do not dress as well as when we know its darn cold out. Add some Wind and humidity and it feels cold. Put on the - 40 gear and no problem.

Ah, there's nothing finer than a crisp -20C spring day when the sun is shining. After a long dark cold winter, it's like standing in front of a heat lamp. We've got a few more weeks of 'fun winter' to look forward to before the melt, so i'll be playing outside as much as I can.
