Stinger play
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
While installing a wide TW fork yesterday, we noted some rotational play of the stinger on the TW spring. Upon removal some scoring of the bolts was noted. these will be replaced. Unfortunately some eccentricity was also noted in the drilled holes in the spring. Is a small degree of play acceptable? Or does this need repair/replacement?
Thanks!
Chris

Unfortunately there isn't s'posed to be any eccentricity in the holes either in the tailwheel spring (stinger) or the tailwheel hub (the aluminum part). This is why Cessna originally installed the hub on the stinger with a heat release epoxy. However people do get away with some play after they install new hardware and crank it down gude-n-tite, your mileage may very.
We do have an amazing resource here in the Pacific Northwest in one Mr. Tom Anderson of the
http://thelandinggearworks.com/ located at the Renton airport. Give him a call and explain your situation, most folks value his opinion.
