STOL mods
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Thanks for that explanation. I get the point, I think.
Does Maule Aircraft put these Micro VGs on the new Maules?

Oh, Idaho SC, surf the supercub.org site for info on the thrustline mod-- a long thread on it there.

Zero,
Sorry for the very late reply. It has been busy lately. We have the Horton kit on it. I'm not aware of any gap sealers on it. I'll have to look into it.

One last thought. I bet anything that actually lowered stall speed would require you to remark the A/S indicator or the FAA wouldn't accept the STC.

a64,
Precisely--take a look at a LEGAL airspeed indicator in a a Robertson modified airplane. In the 185 and 206 airplanes I've flown with that kit, the bottom of the white arc is 37 knots. Course, I've also flown a few with the RSTOL kits that had standard markings--illegal, and reflective of a dumb mechanic.

MTV, could you give me your opinion on the two types of vgs. I know the micros are more for with power on and flaps. But id like to hear from someone thats actually worked both types. As always i realize its just an opinion. doug

Spend a nickel to make a dime but dont spend a dime to save a nickel
I put the vg kit on a 1978 M5 I had a few years ago. I concur with the other posts that the slow speed handling was improved, especially the roll control.
The tail would come up sooner also. I would not put them on my current C185 for several reasons. One is that if you operate anywhere that you have to deal with frost removal you will not be able to use the rope technique to seesaw the frost smooth or use a large towel to coax the semi melting frost off the wing as the vg's get in the way. Washing and waxing the plane becomes a pain as you must go around each vg. With fuel prices where they are I would prefer to spend the money for the vg's on putting gas in the wings and going flying!
