Re: STOL with Lil' Cub

Wow. Loved the video.

That was fabulous ! =D>

I tell you, the beautiful scenery was as impressive as the plane.

What is the plane's weight, HP, and wing square ft. surface area? It almost seemed to defy gravity.

More videos please !

Re: STOL with Lil' Cub

I don't know what's so special about those landings. I could land my airplane that short, too. 'Course, it wouldn't be usable afterwards.

Seriously, that's fascinating--and so's the scenery.

The margin from super fun to total disaster does get a bit closer as speed and control are reduced! [emoji102]

Re: STOL with Lil' Cub

Very impressive!
What powerplant are you running now?
As I recall, originally you had a stroked C85, but I thought I read that you'd switched it for a Lycoming?

Lil Ripper! Looks like about as much fun as you could have with your clothes on. Assuming you were clothed, of course. =D>

Re: STOL with Lil' Cub

Frank,

I *think* if Contact watches these vids he will correctly/incorrectly advise trying less coordinated turns close to the ground. Knowing your abilities bit I don't think you're favoring the ailerons as a matter of form. I think between the slats and the flaps you've supercharged the wing enough that it has gone well past the tails ability to point the propellor in the right direction. Since you don't have a tail rotor, your only options are spoilers and a little more chord on the rudder and stab. You've already test driven one (spoilers), Have you another rudder you can stretch for a quick test drive on the other?

See ya soon,
Rob & C

What's the point of taxiing out to the runway? Just take off from your parking spot!

Top of the line cool! =D>

I think you've made rotor heads blush... or scared.
