Straight tail 182 door locks

Looking for suggestions for locking both cabin doors on my newly acquired 1956 182. I don't think the latches can be re-configured without cutting/drilling doors; so, I think I'm looking for aftermarket key locks that can be installed without pulling door apart. I had a key type lock on my T210 that had an arm/lever that rotated from door into a slot in the window so interior stock dead bolts could be used and then key lock window. I think something like that would work for 182 door using a key lock with an arm/lever rotating/twisting into the door post.

Anybody know of anything; certified or not.

Thanks

I believe you would be looking at these :

it’s really the only way to fully latch the older style, reach in through window and turn door lever and then lock the window. Unless you want to crawl through the baggage door….

Looks pretty clean. Too bad it's not a kit with the actual components.

I just latch from the inside and use one of these on the window.

Re: Straight tail 182 door locks

Unfortunately for me, in one of my 56's previous lives the doors were replaced and the current door mechanisms don't lock from inside or out-either one. Must be missing part of the mechanism inside the door. To avoid completely dismantling door; I am looking for some kind of dead bolt (similar to window locks) that goes from door to door post, or something like that. Plus, it would help stop doors popping open when heavy wind rocks airplane.
Thanks

Managed to lock myself out of my instructors 172 the day of my checkride and had to take this approach. Its not as fun as it seems even for someone on the skinnier side.

The 1956 baggage door has no external latch either, it is opened from a push button on the inside of the pilots side door frame. Quite futuristic actually, but not real practical.

Quite possible the original 56 never had door locks to begin with, and the doors are original indeed.

Hoeschen, yes the baggage lock is really cool. For the cabin doors, I think I'll end up with a barrel lock that locks into door post. I just haven't found the right one yet.
