This is Felix. My dad named it after a canary he had as a kid growing up in Honduras that they called Felicitas.

One of the previous owners of our 185 was Pacer Concrete. The next owner started peeling off the Pacer stickers and ended up with "ACE" and kept it - on both sides. So, our 185 is "Ace" 8) 8)

Re: Suggest a personal name for your Plane? "Songbird"?

Mine is Little Red Bird or LRB for short. Partly that's because she's predominately red and white, but also to honor the source of funds to buy her. Back in 1903, my great grandmother bought a chunk of property on Red Bird Beach, a mile west of Madison-on-the-Lake, OH, for summer vacationing. That remained in the family until after my aunt died almost 13 years ago. My Sis and I had planned to keep the property and rent it out during the summer, but the cost and headaches became too much for both of us, with me here and her in Durango. We were able to sell it for enough to make it possible for her to build a super addition to her house and for me to buy my airplane and name her Little Red Bird. Seemed fitting.

Given that women can be somewhat fickle, let you down and cost you serious coin, my thinking is that male names are always better for machinery.

Because I also sail, I always find amusing names coming up on boats. Some of these might even be able to be logically transposed onto aircraft:

Worked on a cub a few years ago that was named "El Tigre"

I too have a Rans S 7, and have called her Rags. It just seemed the most appropriate name. I just love the little bugger.

That's always one of the funner things to do in marinas, look at boat names. My own is "Miss Judgment". A couple of the local ones I like (likely good for airplanes, too) are: Miss Behavin'; The Other Office.
