Summer in Wisconsin

Any BCPers in the greater Wisconsin area these days? I'm here for a couple months.

I live and fly out of KRRL.

Always open to guests at our EAA events. Check the calendar at our chapter site.

Or check out the hamburger fly outs here.

Hey Rich, we've met before, I can show you 3 ~1000 ft strips within 3 miles of each other probably 15 min flight from where you are staying assuming you are in the same area in SW WI where we met before. I'll send you a PM through the site.

I don't have any plans to go to Chicago, but am going to Oshkosh for the entire week. I'll be in Vintage again camping on Interstate 195.

Re: Summer in Wisconsin

I'm up in northern Wisconsin, don't get down south too much but I do plan on making a trip out to North Fox Island here in early august. unfortunately my plane is full but I plan on making it out there on the weekend of Aug 5/6 if anyone else is looking for a close but isolated island strip.

Cool, thanks for the update.

I'm going to North Fox the weekend of the July 15th if anyone is interested. I'll send a pirep for you newbizor. I got one from a couple weeks ago that was basically "it's great, it's remote, bring bug spray".

Re: Summer in Wisconsin

Good to hear its getting some use! I'd love the pirep, if I get some extra time maybe i'll flyout there next weekend too. Due to its location I don't really like to go out there unless I know someone else is there or at least might be within a few days in case something breaks and strands me there. Quite the swim if something goes wrong.....

Rich was a fan of the Pilot Lounge, here he is getting ready to bunk for the night:

I was up to North Fox a few weekends ago, really a cool spot to fly out to. As for a pirep, the runway is in perfect condition, the water is cold, lots of mosquitos at dawn and dusk. I highly recommend a trip there, make sure you sign the pilot log if you go.

Weekend fly-in and EAA Chapter meeting (Saturday 10.30 am) at Abbotsford, WI. Nice turf strip on the west side of town.

Re: Summer in Wisconsin

Just got a call from my mechanic--things look good to finally get my airplane back on Monday, so I can get my BFR and maybe IPC before leaving for OSH on July 22nd. I'll be there the whole week, as usual--last year, I think I was the last airplane to leave, Monday after lunch. Not sure yet where I'll park--I've parked everywhere from the Far North 40 (north of 9-27), the North 40, Vintage, the South 40, and the Far South 40 (aka North Fond du Lac).
