Re: Tail Draggin Endorsment!!

As winter approaches the tide is getting lower....

Went in again yesterday with a buddy and moved a few more rocks. Its a really fun landing.

Wondering who has the new Carbon Cub here in Truckee? Anyone know? They were out buzzing around us but could not get them to come play.

Really nice looking machine with 31's on her!

Re: Tail Draggin Endorsment!!

Aileron effectiveness was improved a TINY bit on my airplane with the installation of the VGs.

Rudder effectiveness wasn't affected at all...the 170 kit has no VG's on the Vertical stab.

Elevator effectiveness didn't appear to change at all.

Re: Tail Draggin Endorsment!!

We have Micro VG's on our 75 180 with the Sportsman. Thay were added after the Sportsman. Approx 1000 hours before and approx 1000 hours after. I have to say I tend to agree with MTV re the stall. It is quite hard to feel and predict. Very high sink rate now at or near the stall necessitating a burst of power at the flare or carrying higher speed into the flare. It does provde improved aileron control. Does it stall any slower? Hard to say and cant realy get any numbers as the AI is pretty inacurate at those speeds. I suspect on bush wheels with the ability to get a much higher angle of attack there may be more benefit. Dont find re fueling too much of a problem unless you need to climb onto the wing. No wing covers needed here. Best bang for buck is the Sportsman or in the case of a 180, an O520
