Taylorctraft intentional crash

Looks like Trevor Jacobn got 6 months federal time.
Interesting that the article indicates he was convicted of obstructing the investigation,
more than for the actual intentional crashing of the airplane.
Kinda like watergate, the cover-up is worse than the original crime.
Or like the Martha Lunken bridge thing.

Re: Taylorctraft intentional crash

Whole thing was a joke

All the actual bad stuff he did, the things which really mattered, the things which were a danger to the environment and normal folks, the government doesn’t care about, heck as I read it he still can reapply for a pilots license

The government only got mad that the guy lied to them lol

Gov getting offended when someone lies to THEM, with their history…it’s like a wife beater lecturing other people on family values

Welp. Maybe he can bring his selfie stick to prison and shoot some youtube videos about prison life and such. Play stupid games and all.

Al Capone was responsible for dozens of deaths, but went to prison for tax evasion. Whatever it takes. . . .

Re: Taylorctraft intentional crash

The FAA and Congress probably never expected someone to intentionally crash their plane for video rankings. Since it was so unlikely, there probably isn't any specific law against doing it. You can't charge someone for a crime that isn't specifically laid out in the criminal statutes. You can charge them for a crime that is on the books, and that's what the feds did. Like StuBob said, whatever it takes. The penalties for obstructing a federal investigation are probably more severe than for a more generic charge like reckless endangerment. I sure don't want the criminal statutes expended to explicitly cover every possible bad act. Lord knows I'd get locked up for something then.

Re: Taylorctraft intentional crash

With how stupid thick the law books are, I’m sure there were a dozen laws he broke, especially since it was in CA

But the state wanted to let people know there was no greater sin than disrespecting their perceived holy authority

Had I been on the jury, when the only charge was lying to the same government that lies to all of us daily, first it would have been hard to keep a straight face when the prosecution stated the ridiculous charge, second I would have nullified the heck out of that and let him walk. The audacity of this government trying to go after a citizen for lying to THEM lol
