Re: That didn't take very long...

I think he will end up regretting that stunt a teensy bit. Just a little teensy bit.

Blessed are the curious, for they shall have great adventures!

Re: That didn't take very long...

Obviously someone trying to get some experience so he can go join the Twetos for the next season of "Flying Wild AK". What a tool. I guess they needed a Mythbusters type of "kids don't try this at home" intro to the show. [-X

I haven't seen much of the news the last few days, but this was the first I heard of it...which hopefully means it didn't get sucked up by the sensationalizing national media.

Re: That didn't take very long...

I guess its better than another homicidal fascination with the show Dexter and Letterman won't have to look far for his next Stupid Human Trick.

I no sooner got done posting this when I opened my email and AOPA had sent out their latest offer, "Is your pilot license at risk? We can help for only 9 cents per day" Great timing!

Re: That didn't take very long...

You gotta be shittin' me!

I especially like the video of the poor thing frolicking in the waves. Happily corroding away!

That is most certainly NOT the place to do that.
I'd say this dude gets in to the running for dipshit of the year, and it's only April......

I just hope I don't end up competing with him before December, still got a lot of work ahead of me!

Yes, and I'm sure the Kennedy controllers don't have anything better to do than babysit some dip stick "too cool to believe" newbie pilot.

Grrrrrr. Look for more heat to restrict where we can land.

I think I recognize the controller's voice. The next time I'm on final and he is on duty, I'm going to ask if the beach is available. :D

That tape is maddening, that controller exercised restraint well beyond what I would have been capable of - at the first jackass "Rajaah" I would have told the kid to beat it. More great press for GA thanks to an asshole.

Where do you find the recording at atc.net?

I have a feeling he won't. We will.
Unbelievable patience by the NY Controller.
Next time I transition through NY Airspace I'll ask to plop the 414 into the beach and see what they say.

Re: That didn't take very long...

This pilot exercised extremely poor judgement and should have his license revoked! Gives us all a bad name. Very unprofessional and unbelievably cavalier on the radio. It's like finger nails on a chalkboard listening to him talking to the controller. As an instructor it makes me sick. Who does he think he is??? [-X Needs to have his ass kicked 8)

The year is still young, but this guy is positioned very well. #-o

Funny how someone can wad a car and if anyone notices, there's little accountability from other drivers.

Do something public and stupid in an airplane and you have half a million pilots ready to hang you for making them all look bad. :x What a douchebag.

Boy, it's sure a good thing none of us on this board have ever committed a boneheaded act in our airplanes, or anywhere else in our lifetime.

In the Bonehead Hall of Fame (not to mention the Evildoer's Hall of Fame), this one actually ranks pretty low. Watch 5 minutes of your local TV "news at five" and you'll know what I mean.

What a DUMBA$$. After they send him a bill for the Fire and Police responders they might want to have him tear the engine down to see why it was running a little, "teensy, teensy bit rough"

Maybe he should get an invite to Johnson Creek and he could get the "secret handshake":

Most boneheaded acts are forgivable, unless they have a recording of you impudently ignoring the advice of a controller while talking like a clown, hogging his frequency, lying about an emergency, and then having your poor judgement immortalized in the New York Times.

A bonehead act would be getting on the brakes too hard in a shortfield contest and sinking your prop into the sod (solo), calling up the tower while still on ground, or landing on what you thought was the edge of the park in a secluded area, only to realize the park starts on the other side of the river... No harm or potential danger (physical or otherwise) to others... He endangered his pax, and your flying privileges ...

Low time pilot taking two unwitting souls axle deep into soft illegal sand is bonehead on a multi-level... He screwed the pooch and deserves all the screwing he will get.

I like to hold fellow pilots (and friends for that matter) to a higher standard than those that purposefully make the local news at five... It's a novel concept that keeps me from making the news at five as well... Remember... this was no accident, he knew full good and well he was crossing the line...

The only way this could get any more bone headed is if he posts about his 'adventure' on the internet for god and everybody to see...

Anyone catch whose plane it was?

Zane - yup, there's boneheaded, and then there's "boneheaded gone viral on the internet" ... the act may be the same, but the consequences won't be.

IMHO pilots maybe oughta be a little less quick to condemn from up on their high horses (as Jesus said, "let he who is without sin be the first to cast a stone"), especially when the perp is "young and dumb".

The bonehead is only 24 years old - maybe he'll learn from this experience, or if it's congenital then maybe Darwinism will take care of him eventually.

I'm just glad that such behavior isn't the norm in our pilot community.
