Inexperience is a good excuse to hide behind when we do something boneheaded. Not immaturity. I wasn't that dumb when I was 17 with wet ink on my pilots license. I'd guess he's up for a 709 ride next...

Re: That didn't take very long...

I heard from another board that a local pilot there knows this guy and said he's a tool, also said he's the one that ran a plane through a fence a few months back at the end of the runway.

Sorry, NM. His attitude seals the deal. Reading this, I can feel myself standing in the shoes of the first person who discovered the need for the word Fucktard in our language.

Re: That didn't take very long...

What I read on the some other forums is that it belongs to a flying club out in that area.

As for turning the other cheek, I think that we all know that there is a line between "sh!t happens" and making "sh!t happen". There is a difference. And when the latter puts my privilege of flying in jeopardy of being further over regulated, yeah, I'll jump on the "string him up" band wagon in a heart beat.

Haha.....he is definatly a fucktard.
It is to bad though, that when one lands his plane on a beach in the US the police, fire Dept, feds and news media need to called in like a swarm of bees.

It's part of a greater misunderstanding about the utility and versatility of aircraft.

Not landing at an airport? Must be a crash. I actually think the TV shows will help with that kind of thing. But this guy chose a completely inappropriate location, aircraft, and overall execution for a beach landing. How did he even end up in the water, anyway? Was he trying to waterski it in like Jim Tweto? :P

I have never declared an emergency so someone who has chime in. Can you take off again without having a mechanic check it out? It was pilots call to get down with the rough running and sick passenger. Was the plane landed safely on the beach and now shown in the photo at high tide before it could be gotten back out? More questions than answers.

Tide comes in water gets higher or maybe his first beach landing was not as good as he thought it should have been? This idiot deserves everything that gets thrown at him. He endangered his passengers, himself & anybody that might have been on the beach & effed up somebody's airplane. Had to have it taken apart & trucked off the beach, police should be arresting heroin addicts & fire department should be rescuing kitty cats out of trees in Central Park not chasing down to the beach cause some dumb-ass is impressing his drunk girlfriend with a beach landing.

The 8 other owners of that plane should be having an ass kicking contest.

It was a good landing. They walked away.

Could even be considered great. The plane will fly again. :D

Good day

Probably didn't land in the water at all ... tide was coming in .... saw one video that showed the wheels barely wet, then another (I'm assuming later) where the waves were starting to wash over the wing.

Maybe it was a combination of Flying Wild Alaska and reading this thread.

"What's the big deal it happens all the time in Alaska.". Classic. Maybe it was just me but I thought everybody found out when they were getting their PPL that flying events that are conventional in AK are not at all normal in the lower, and some are illegal.

Re: That didn't take very long...

I sure felt like hanging this guy when I heard the atc recording. But after all, how many of you haven't done something stupid to impress the putty cat before you grew up a little and figured a few things out.

This guy goes by ambulance now? Have you ever felt so stupid for what you have done? Consider your self fortunate if you've never had physical pain from heavy emotions.

Just too bad how much of an impact this persons actions could have an affect on aviation. Although the effect will primarily be from the media and how they spin it. I think the media is one of our biggest problems today. If people only new the truths and facts, our country would be better for it!

Well put and I couldn't have said it better myself.

I have little doubt that his ambulance ride was from a face palm moment, and a well deserved ride at that.

While I can't say I haven't made my share of boneheaded idiotic moves growing up  I can say I was at least smart enough to try and do them where I didn't endanger innocent people.Let alone the rights of many.
