The Great Big Jump - Cessna 182

So I have been talking with my buddy Kirk, he is the guy from the video's I have been doing lately.

He wants to upgrade to a 210 later this year, I really like his little 182, tonight we squared off on a number, later this year I am going to buy it off of him, I am pretty stoked. Actually I am flipping ecstatic, this will be my first airplane, and what is even better, it is the same model that I learned to fly in.

She is going to need paint and a new panel, which is fine I will get that done in time. I am just really excited about making it happen.

Re: The Great Big Jump - Cessna 182

I've been looking around at a lot of pictures, found this one, I think this is definitely the paint scheme I want to go with.

Although will omit the stripes on the tail for an orange cap and flat black "STOL" emblem stripe like the one on the 172 in this pic.

What is here is 1956 - pretty stock with standard gear . We have 2 56 182s and Georges old 1959 on floats.Very capable airplane if you fly it right. At 2550 gross and 60 gallons fuel it'll top 23,000 ft. - cruise in mid to high 130 knots at around 11-gph. Get extended baggage ( Selkirk) and load it up. Keep 50 + lbs back there and it will fly so much better . I'd stash the wheel pants to go off pavement airstrips. Send me a email direct and I'll send you or others the " Straight Tail Resources " hand book . Go direct to [email protected] - I don't do Pm mail . send your cell phone number and I should be able to call and send via text file.

Re: The Great Big Jump - Cessna 182

I am pretty stoked about it, it will be probably october-december before we make it happen, but that's alright.

Just having the plan together and knowing its going to happen is getting me all excited, this dream started for me when I was 8 years old. I will be 33 by the time it happens, but that is alright.

For me it is going to be a beautiful thing to get to actually get out and go fly and not just be doing it on Microsoft Flight sim or from my arm chair.

This is also going to mean buying a handful of GoPro cameras and a bunch of mounts for them. I am going to have a lot of fun with this.

Yeah that 56 is just one I like the paint scheme on, I am heading out in a little bit to take some pictures of the one I am getting. The one I am getting is the one in the video.

And I can guarantee you the wheel pants that come with it are going to CONTINUE to sit on the shelf and gather more dust! lol

You are right the extended baggage is a must have! I also definitely need to get the fold up 2nd row seats because a lot of the time when I go flying I will be taking my German Shepherd with me. It will be a lot easier if he can sit/lay flat on the floor.

Which reminds me I need to look into getting some hearing protection for him.

I bounced you off an email, I appreciate the resources.

Re: The Great Big Jump - Cessna 182

We went out and put a new set of tires on it and changed the oil, the light was really hard and nasty so I just snapped a pic with my cell phone, didn't even bother breaking out my DSLR

Tomorrow going to fly to Louisiana and drive his airport car back to Galveston to his new job. Going to see about taking some pictures maybe video tomorrow.

That's really exciting! Hope it all works out.

Off topic question. I assumed you were in MT because of your username. Flying to Louisiana would be an awesome trip! But maybe I assumed wrong and your in TX. Still a cool trip. Polk county is quite a place.

Just a wee bit (like jumping for joy over here)

Even dreamed about it last night.

This afternoon I climbed up in the seat and was sitting behind the controls and man it just felt good.

You sir are a certifiable bad influence!

And yeah watching what you did with your 180 is really driving a lot of what I want to do with my 182 when I get rolling on it.
