Re: The legacy of Shaun Lunt

Hi all, I see Typepad no longer exists and Shaun’s Due Up blog has disappeared. Anyone know if this got transferred onto another site? Would be a real shame if it was lost..

Shaun’s fabulous pictures and comments were truly an Alaskan treasure. If anyone missed viewing his thoroughly documented Alaskan trips you missed a real gem.

Anticipating that his content might one day “disappear” I archived all I could find years ago. Now, what do I do with the archive?

Email me Ted. We can prop it up here. Did you get the blog text in addition to photos? I may have downloaded it too but it was a long time ago and i’d have to dig.

What's the difference?

Sounds like what I understand is a "moose stall".

As it was explained and hammered and I do mean hammered into me by the crusty old guy that was my initial instructor. A "moose stall" is an uncoordinated accelerated stall. Generally, when you are looking at game, low and slow and cranking it around to get a better look or keep the game in view. You tighten up the turn, get slow, need to crank it around just a little bit more so you kick in more rudder and bam, you turn turtle and you are in a spin at low level and the odds of recovery is slim to none.

The Web Archive (Way Back Machine) has it, worst case. It's a bit slow, but looks like it's all there:

Yup, I'm going to migrate it over here and remove my ads for those pages. Will also reach out to his family.

I'm slowly migrating them over: https://backcountrypilot.org/features/c ... shaun-lunt

I talked to Shaun's dad and got permission. Should be a few more weeks and I'll have them all up. Thank you Ted for your help.
