Just stopped at Luverne and met Marty and his son Ben and his wife Lori. Promised BBQ sandwiches were delicious! What a great airport and a cool family. The grand kids were on the line fueling planes! Definitely stopping by on the way back.

Hey thanks for the kind words. It was really great meeting you, Noreen and Stan. If the cards do play out for your return trip, Tracy and I are going to camp at the field Saturday night. We'll have a fire and some cold beer and I can almost guarantee Jack D. will be there too. Enjoy Oshkosh and be sure to let those flying home to the west know of Ben & Lori's little fly-in.

We have been here since Sunday. Beautiful weather! Coolest it has ever been. We are in homebuilt camping next to a bright yellow Cub from Missouri.

Maybe we will see you Alan and Noreen. Check out homebuilt camping. The Super Chub is there.

Ok EVERYBODY it's that time of year again, if you are flying from the west to Oshkosh you are invited to land at KLYV Luverne, MN. Ben & Family could easily be your last leg as they are 332 nm from Oshkosh. Many of you came last year and it was great meeting you all. I personally won't be there this year as we have moved to Dubois, WY.

Any of you that have read other threads from me know that my son Ben owns Sierra Delta Aviation LLC at KLYV (ok yeah I'm a little proud of the kid). Now here is the draw for all of you. From July 24th the Thursday before Oshkosh to Aug 5th the Tuesday after Oshkosh and during Oshkosh, Ben and Lori, (his wife), put out a spread for all pilots and passengers you won't believe. They started this in 2010 in KCUT Custer, SD and had a fantastic turnout, they are continuing this in Luverne.

From 9:00 am to 7:00 pm they are serving (to name a few items)

Pulled pork sandwiches
Potatoe Salad
Macaroni Salad
Coleslaw
Blue Berry Muffins (These would be worth stopping for if it was the only thing)
Two to three deserts

Fruit and Bagels also at Breakfast

I also just learned that 3 of my 4 grandsons will be having a lemonade stand.

All served in an air conditioned Hanger. It's all homemade, AND THE BEST PART IS, ITS ALL FREE!!!!!!!!

If that is not enough KLYV is always the cheapest Avgas and JetA in SE South Dakota, SW Minnesota and NW Iowa. The price as of Wed July 22 is $5.01 100LL.

This is SD Aviation's way of showing their appreciation for General Aviation. Stop when going to and stop going home. Please let all your flying friends know whether they belong to BCP or not.

I'll likely be there during the noonish hours on Saturday. As a "veteran Luverne visitor", I can say that Marty's brags are all true--great lunch and warm welcomes.

Marty, we stayed in Dubois on the way to the Northwest on June 28th. Great dinner at the Cowboy Cafe. Next morning we found Chance Phelps' grave, to pay our respects. Such a nice little town! Hope you're happy there.

Hi Cary, Well as I mentioned I can't be there this year, but Ben & Lori and the boys will take good care of you. As for Dubois my wife and I both love it here, I have never lived anywhere else that felt so right.
