I take it they're moving out from the blimp hangar at Tillamook, where they've been located for many years. Anyone know why?

The warbirds are almost all in Madras at this time. Don't know why they moved them. Hope the blimp hangars stay up.

Madras has a better climate for storing warbirds. No salt air.

Better climate and the blimp hangers need repairs that will cost in the millions... The city does not want to pay for the repairs and Ericsson feels that it is the city's responsibility do to them since they are leasing the building.... Better to move the airplanes....

I'm told that it's kind of the same deal with the blimp hangars at the MCAS Tustin in So. California. At least one of those is a national historic building so hopefully it won't be torn down, but nobody has the dough to make any needed repairs, let alone bring it all up to code.

I was there this spring and heard this as the reason they were thinking about moving.

Glad those planes will survive!
