Motorcycles and Airplanes Thread

Here's a thread over at Adventure Rider that I've been enjoying. The only rule is the photos should have a motorcycle and airplane both. Theres some good shots in here, from all over the world. Ahhhh....motorcycles and airplanes. What else is there?

http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=257113

Do we have any of these photos here??? I'm still looking thru my collection.

I love that site. No airplane and bike pics yet, but I have posted a couple of trip reports from this summer on there.

I have been looking for a modern light motorcycle to put in my 206. 250cc. I watched a guy pull a Trials bike in and out of a 177 Cardinal.

Hello Backcounty pilots,
I have a 1974 Honda Trail 70 that fits in my Maule. The handlebars fold down and it goes 35 mph on a good day.

I discovered my airplane camping gear would all fit in and on my '78 Goldwing.....including the Montague full size folding mountain bike, I got some strange looks but that has never bothered me!

Re: Motorcycles and Airplanes Thread

My taking the Montague on the Goldwing to the following: http://www.skilookout.com/hiaw/ was a last resort, I couldn't find anyplace to land within bike riding distance. It is worth a looksee, incredibly scenic country and the bridges and tunnels are "famous" in that I believe several western movies were shot there, easy to believe. They just need an airstrip a little closer!

Re: Motorcycles and Airplanes Thread

CG, I saw a video on Vimeo of a guy riding his KTM through those tunnels (I thought it was longboy, but a search came up nil). Amazing indeed.

Thanks for the kind words guys :D (they take a bit to write and I'm glad so many have enjoyed the trip). I decided to sell the bike back in Sept, but it did make a good trip report over labor day weekend. DEN-PHX

Re: Motorcycles and Airplanes Thread

I flew to a dual sport bike rally in September. I borrowed a dual sport bike from the rally host for the rides from his lakeside cottage. The 2.5 hour flight to the rally was much nicer than driving my KLR 8 hours to get there. No monkey butt either. :)

Image

My bike and plane at home. Before I got the plane the bike was a poor substitute for adventure. I still drive it a lot though, different kind of adventure. You never see a bike or airplane parked at a psychiatrist's office.
